A Communist Party secretary in Hebei Province was sacked after footage of him was posted online, deriding ordinary Chinese people while he ate an expensive meal from plates carried on a rotating conveyor belt.

The five-minute video was spread via social media, showing Liang Wenyong from Gushanzi town criticizing Chinese people for being ungrateful as he snacked on lobster and threw back shots of alcohol.

“[Chinese citizens] hold rice bowls and eat pork provided by you, but they still curse your mother. Therefore, the common people, the shameless, don’t deserve your attention,” Liang said at the end of the video, China Radio International reported.

According to text in the video, Liang and the other officials spent nearly 10,000 yuan ($1,600) on the seafood feast, which included expensive Wuliangye liquor and Zhonghua cigarettes.

The radio report added that Liang has been removed from his post indefinitely since the video went viral.

Liang is the latest official to lose his job for corruption since Party leader Xi Jinping launched an apparent cleanup campaign after taking power in March.
