From Chinatown in New York City to halfway around the world in Jakarta, Indonesia, and everywhere in between, celebrations for the Chinese Lunar New Year are in full swing. People celebrate the New Year, the Year of the Snake, with fireworks, lion dances in the streets, and worship in temples. There will be 15 days of feasting, gift-giving, special ceremonies, reunions with family and friends, and lots of wishes for prosperity and good fortune in the New Year. The festivities will end with the final celebration of the Lantern Festival on Feb. 24th. Happy Chinese New Year, everyone!
