CHINA—A Chinese rural worker living in Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province sleepwalked 30 kilometres and ended up sleeping under someone’s eaves.
According to Qianjiang Evening, at about 3:00 a.m. on September 12, in Kongpu, Ningbo City, an elderly couple named Zhang were awaken by a loud snoring noise. They were surprised to find a man sleeping under the eaves of their house, so they called the police.
When they police arrived the man was still in a deep sleep.
The police had to shake the man to wake him up. Once he awoke, police escorted him to the police station. The man was half awake and not coherent; he just followed orders to get into the van to be taken to the police station.
At the police station when he was interrogated under a strong light, the man suddenly woke up as if from a dream. He then told the police his surname was Lin and he lived in Jiulonghu town, which is about 30 kilometres away from where he was found. At an average walking speed for an adult, Lin sleepwalked for at least three hours.
Lin told the police he had no idea how he got to Kongpu. He has had this problem for over ten years and he did not know how he got to this place.
By the time police drove Lin back home, his wife had awoken and discovered him missing. She told police that when he sleepwalked, he often went out at midnight but always came back before day break, and if anyone asked him where he went, he had no idea.
The couple said they had moved to Ningbo City for work several years ago and that Lin had stopped sleepwalking in the past several years.
