If the man had taken a step in any direction, he'd almost certainly have died or suffered serious injuries.

On March 13, China’s state-run Anhui Television reported a car accident in China:  A male pedestrian came within inches of being killed when two cars crashed literally right next to him. The man was standing on the side of the road, getting ready to across the street, when a white SUV careened off the shoulder towards him. Before the SUV could clear the opposing lane, however, it was hit by a red truck.

The SUV quickly spun around, coming within inches of hitting the man, while the truck also came to a halt, again within inches of hitting the man.

The pedestrian made several gestures toward the driver of the white SUV before taking off and crossing the street.

It is unclear where the accident took place, or the current condition of the drivers of the SUV and the truck.

In the discussion section of China’s news portal Netease, netizens were astonished at how the man didn’t move at all at the key moment. One netizen from Hainan Province said “Such a miracle,” while another netizen from Shandong Province said “So lucky.”

A thoughtful Internet user in Shenzhen pondered: “Only when you hover between life and death do you realize how miniscule your life is.”
