A top congressional advisory body has urged the United States to form an interagency committee tasked with issuing sanctions in the event that China engages in “hostile action” against Taiwan.
The U.S.–China Economic and Security Review Commission (USCC) released its annual report on Nov. 15, stating that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has taken “a significantly more aggressive stance” toward Taiwan (pdf).
