Taiwanese Citizens Arrested for Purchase of Data Stolen by China-Based Hacking Group

The hacking group, called CrazyHunter, began targeting hospitals and companies in Taiwan earlier this year.

TAIPEI, Taiwan—Local investigators recently announced the arrest of two Taiwanese citizens for allegedly purchasing personal data stolen by a China-based hacking group known as “CrazyHunter,” which began targeting institutions in Taiwan earlier this year.

Taiwan’s Investigation Bureau, an agency under the Ministry of Justice, announced on Aug. 28 the result of its investigation against CrazyHunter after being alerted by local hospitals and companies that had been hit by ransomware in February and March.
