Intellectual property theft allows China to dominate the world of electric vehicles (EVs), according to former senior intelligence official and author Nicholas Eftimiades.

From 2021 to 2022, the number of EVs sold annually in China grew to 6.8 million from 1.3 million, making 2022 the eighth consecutive year in which China was the world’s largest EV market. The United States sold about 800,000 EVs in 2022, according to a report by MIT Technology Review.
