On the same night as former Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying criticized Hong Kong students for “lacking family discipline,” a mob of individuals with white T-shirts armed with sticks and metal bars attacked protesters at the Yuen Long train station. Forty-five people were injured including journalists and lawmakers. Yuen Long legislative council member Zachary Wong Wai-yin obtained information that these men were gangsters from Yuen Long and Tuen Mun. Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam avoided reporters’ questions about partnership between officials, police, and the mafia.
