A provincial Chinese communist official who amassed millions of dollars in bribes while in office is now facing imprisonment and is wanted by Interpol. His wife and younger brother, both co-conspirators to the alleged crimes, also face similar charges.
Local authorities in Hunan Province accused Peng Xufeng and his younger brother Peng Yaofeng of accepting bribes and money laundering exceeding 200 million yuan ($30 million). Xufeng fled overseas in 2017. Yaofeng was sentenced to life imprisonment on Aug. 31 this year.
