China’s expansion of its nuclear capabilities and a “series of quite exotic forms of weaponry” highlight the crucial requirement for “intensive dialogue” to mitigate nuclear risks, a top White House official said on July 21.

National security adviser Jake Sullivan told the Aspen Security Forum that it’s “vital” for the United States and China to engage in nuclear arms talks in order to gain a mutual comprehension of their respective doctrines, intentions, and modes of operation.
