A 3-year-old girl who was abducted from a Pennsylvania town has been found safe in New York City, according to local authorities.
The abduction of Ava Byrne prompted an AMBER Alert on Aug. 26.
Ava Byrne was last seen about 12:30 a.m. Friday on Vine Street in Nescopeck Borough, Penn., according to the now-canceled Amber Alert. The alert said the toddler was abducted by 24-year-old Robert Byrne and was considered to be in “imminent danger.” Byrne is the child’s father.
Described as 5'9” and weighing 215 pounds and the driver of a silver 2004 Hyundai Elantra with PA registration HKB-4681, authorities suspected that he was was headed for New York City.
They were correct, as he was arrested outside the Lincoln Tunnel in Manhattan.
Ava was brought to a Manhattan hospital for evaluation and is expected to be reunited with her mother, according to police sources.
The girl was wearing only a diaper when she was taken. Her mother is on the way to New York City to reunite with her, PIX-11 reported.
Further details about how Byrne and Ava were discovered were not immediately made available.
