At least nine people were killed and dozens were injured in separate shootings across Chicago over the past weekend, authorities said.

Chicago Police told local media that four people under the age of 18 were shot in the time frame between Friday night and early Monday morning.

One of the first homicides of the weekend occurred at around 8:30 p.m. Friday in the West Chatham area, officials told CBS Chicago. A 44-year-old male was in a verbal altercation with another man on the porch of the victim’s home when the offender pulled out a gun, shooting the 44-year-old before leaving the scene.
According to Chicago police officials speaking to the Chicago Sun-Times, 28-year-old Michael Hernandez-Lagunas was gunned down at around 6:20 p.m. on Friday in the 2300 block of West 23rd Place. He was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital.

Hours later, on Saturday at about 4:45 a.m., in another shooting, a woman, 20, and a man, 23, were hit by gunfire in the 4800 block of North Central Avenue, officials said. The woman was taken to a nearby hospital and was pronounced dead, while the male is in critical condition.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office identified the woman as Megan Bilbo, reported ABC7.

About an hour earlier on Saturday, a 41-year-old woman and a 56-year-old man were sitting in a car in the 300-block of South Hoyne Avenue when they were shot, police told ABC7. The man was pronounced dead after being taken to Stroger Hospital, officials said.

In another incident, a 27-year-old woman was shot by someone in a hallway at a building in the 7100-block of South Ridgeland Avenue, officials told the ABC affiliate. She was later pronounced dead at the University of Chicago Medical Center.

On Saturday evening, an 18-year-old man was shot dead in Englewood on the South Side as he was walking through a gas station at around 8 p.m. in the 110 block of West 63rd Street when a vehicle drove past him and someone inside opened fire, police said.

Hours earlier, officials said a 54-year-old male identified as Parrish Peeples was fatally shot in West Englewood. He was standing on a porch at around 5:15 p.m. Saturday when several individuals emerged from a vehicle and shot him, officials told ABC7.

According to an analysis of news reports, about 803 homicides have been reported in Chicago so far in 2021. More than 3,500 people have been shot and wounded.

It also showed that about 797 people were murdered in 2020, while about 3,400 were shot and injured.
