Former first daughter Chelsea Clinton said Monday that she would not rule out running for political office in the future.
Clinton, 33, did not confirm if she would run, when she gave an interview with NBC News.
“Right now I’m grateful to live in a city, a state and a country where I strongly support my mayor, my governor, my president and my senators and my representative,” said Clinton, the daughter of former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
“If at some point that weren’t true and I thought I could make a meaningful and measurably greater impact, I'd have to ask and answer that question,” she continued.
Clinton, who lives in New York City and recently purchased a loft in the Chelsea neighborhood with her husband Marc Mezvinsky, gave a similar answer to Parade magazine over the weekend. Clinton currently works as a special NBC News correspondent and has a position with the Clinton Global Initiative University.
“Before my mom’s campaign in 2008, I would have said no, not because of any kind of thoughtful, deliberate questioning, but simply because people have been asking me that for as long as I can remember,” she told the magazine.
She added: “If there were a time where that wasn’t true and I thought that I could make a disproportionately positive impact, I’d have to ask and answer that question.”
