ZURICH—Mr. Alfred M. Banz, CEO at a Swiss Bank, and his wife, attended the Shen Yun Performing Arts International Company’s second performance at the Kongresshaus in Zurich on March 22.

Based in New York, Shen Yun Performing Arts was established in 2006 with the mission of reviving 5,000 years of divinely inspired Chinese culture. In a collection of short pieces, audiences travel from the Himalayas to tropical lake-filled regions; from the legends of the culture’s creation over 5,000 years ago through to the story of Falun Dafa in China today.

Ms. Banz was fascinated by Shen Yun’s ability to touch diplomatically and aesthetically on China’s persecution of Falun Gong (also known as Falun Dafa), a traditional spiritual discipline.

“I was deeply touched. Then I thought, there has to be truth in what we are seeing on stage. I believe that people in that country are truly suffering and these artists want people outside of China to be aware of it,” she said.

“I always felt that there were problems in China, but I just couldn’t put my finger on it. Only after seeing this show today do I understand the magnitude of what is happening in today’s China,” she added.

Mr. Banz was amazed to see scenes through dance, song and music from China’s 5,000-year history.

“It was unique. I was impressed with the show. I especially felt that this show didn’t only present things on the surface, without depth, but that there was so much spiritual content weaving through the show,” he said.

“I’m giving you my personal opinion. I was deeply impressed by the scene that spoke of a catastrophe and that during that time a heavenly solution would come into play. I told myself, it doesn’t matter if you are a Christian or believe in another god, the divine will be there no matter what,” Mr. Banz said.
