Celine Dion and her husband Réne Angélil have announced that they have named their newborn twins Eddy and Nelson, CBS News reported on Friday.
The couple named the twins after Eddy Marnay, who produced some of Dion’s albums, and South African statesman Nelson Mandela, a rep for Dion told People magazine.
“[Eddy Marnay] was like a father to her. Eddy is a major influence in both Céline and René’s lives,” the rep said. Dion and Angélil met Nelson Mandela while the singer was on tour and the two were “impressed by the human being he is,” the rep added.
The Canadian singer gave birth to Nelson and Eddy last weekend via C-section at a hospital in West Palm Beach, Florida.
