CBS twitter hacked: CBS said that some of its Twitter accounts were hacked over the weekend, with reports saying that supporters of the Syrian government were behind it.
The group, which calls itself the Syrian Electronic Army, has promoted messages to support Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in the past, according to The Independent newspaper.
The group also was apparently behind the takeover over several BBC Twtter accounts in March.
“60 Minutes Twitter has been compromised. We are working with Twitter to resolve,” CBS said on Twitter.
Fake messages were posted on the “60 Minutes” account including that “the US government is hiding the real culprit of the Boston bombing” and “the US government is sponsoring a coup in Venezuela and a terrorist war in Syria.”
Another tweet read: “Your duty is to protect your nation from the parasites that have taken your government” and finally, it said, “Obama wants to destroy the Syrian and American people. We must stop this beast.”
CBS Denver was also apparently hacked, according to Techcrunch. “WMDs provided by NATO to al-Qaeda for false flag operation in #Syria,” one tweet reads.
The Twitter account for “48 Hours” was also compromised, reported Reuters.
“General Dempsey calls for #Obama’s arrest under new anti-terror laws #48hours,” reads a tweet.
The fake posts were removed from Twitter later on Saturday.
