Catastrophic Airplane Crash Involving Five Jets Narrowly Avoided at Last Moment
The FAA is investigating the distance between four planes on a runway at San Francisco International, and an Air Canada jet that came dangerously close to landing on top of them. A potentially catastrophic accident was narrowly avoided on July 7 .
As four planes sat on the taxiway, waiting for their turn to take off, they looked up to see Air Canada Flight 759 headed toward them. Both the pilot and the tower thought the plane was headed onto runway 28R, which was clear for landing.
An audio recording of the incident from the FAA reveals that a voice not belonging to the Air Canada pilot or the tower controller directing him as saying, “Where is this guy going? He’s on the taxiway.”
The pilot of the United Airlines plane on the runway identified himself and said “Uh, United 1, Air Canada flew directly over us,” after the Air Canada plane is told to “go around.”

It appears that the runway Air Canada thought it was lining up to land on was not the runway that the air traffic controller was referring to in their communication. A huge accident was narrowly avoided as the main parties responsible for landing the plane seemed unaware of the mistake.
So this is why, as my Air Canada flight was about to land Saturday, the plane climbed abruptly engines roaring…!! https://t.co/c1e8zISkqU
