Celmira Luzardo is dead. The Colombian actress is perhaps best known as Catalina Angel from “Yo Soy Betty La Fea,” the predecessor to “Ugly Betty.”
Her death at age 61 was mourned by artists across Latin America.
“We woke up to the sad news of the death of the great actress Celmira Luzardo, our condolences, great loss,” Artistas Colombianos said via Twitter.
Luzardo died in Bogota, family and friends told EFE.
Luzardo also had roles in other Colombian television series such as “Los Cuervos” and “La Tregua.”
As Catalina she advised Better in her physical transformation.
The actress had recently left acting and moved to the Caribbean island of San Andres.
