A new graphic video shows blood pouring down the front of an elevator on the Carnival ecstasy cruise ship. Warning: Video is graphic.

The video was recorded by passenger Matt Davis, who was on the three day cruise with his family.

“To look and see the elevator with just blood coming down like a sheet, and not stopping... it was a real life scene of The Shining,” Davis told Fox4.

The blood poured out as the doors tried to open and close. The couple described the situation as sounding like a rainstorm and smelling like blood.

Cruise officials soon sealed off the area and started an investigation.

A Carnival spokesperson later told CNN that electrician Jose Sandoval Opazo was working on the elevator when an accident occurred.

Opazo was injured and eventually died.

“The company extends its heartfelt sympathy to the family and loved ones of our team member. … Appropriate authorities have been notified and a full investigation into the cause of the accident is underway,” Carnival said in a statement. The company has offered to pay for the Davis family to go to three counseling sessions.
