The Google netbook that will run the Chrome OS does not have a caps lock key, according to images released on the Internet search engine giant’s website.
“What did we leave out? Spinning disks, caps-lock key, function keys, and lap burns,” the company stated.
But the caps lock key functionality is not entirely left out. Those who want caps lock will have to jump through a few hoops to activate the key, however.
“If you really need Caps Lock so you can post an INSIGHTFUL COMMENT ON YOUTUBE, click the wrench, click Settings, and then go to the System section to change the Modifier Key from a Search key to a Caps Lock key,” Google stated.
The plain black Cr-48 Atom netbook will only be shipped to select developers as part of the Google Chrome Pilot Program.
According to the company, the netbook will boot in 10 seconds and resume from sleep mode instantaneously. Wi-Fi and 3G are built in as well as a webcam.
The display is a 12-inch LCD screen, and the computer boasts a full-size keyboard (without the aforementioned caps lock key) and an “oversized touchpad to let you enjoy the web comfortably,” Google said on its website.
It weighs 3.8 pounds and has a battery life of eight hours.
