Cape Girardeau, Missouri: Storm Leaves Over 1,700 Without Power

Cape Girardeau, MO was hit by a storm on Thursday evening, as severe weather rolled through the area.

The city said in a blog post that the storm damaged multiple areas of the city, but the hardest hit area in in the southeast. 

“As of 9:30 p.m., more than 1700 customers in the hardest hit area of Cape Girardeau were without power,” it said.

City staff and other workers are assessing damage and beginning clean-up.

Power lines are down in some places, and some trees and tree limbs have been knocked down, and are blocking parts of Bloomfield Road.

The following streets are closed to traffic until further notice:

  • 900 block of Ranney Ave.
  • Locust St.
  • 1200 block of Pacific St.
