To those outside the conventional medical community, some agree that cancer is curable, even in advanced stages. They advocate a new approach: “Don’t remove the affected organ,” and remind us that with some common sense and help, the body can accomplish amazing things. Many of the organizations, individuals, and cancer patients in remission at the Cancer Control conference said just this sort of thing.
The convention featured over 100 booths, presenting various natural methods and preparations—even hyperbaric chambers—that appear to have positive effects for people with various medical conditions, including cancer.
Also represented at the conference were naturopathic doctors.
“Naturopathic medicine has taken leaps and bounds forward during the past 15 years. Many conditions are treatable using more natural means than ever before to help the body heal itself,” said Dana Churchill, a practicing N.D. in Los Angeles.
Churchill summed up the naturopathic approach: using natural treatments that allow the body’s own healing processes to take care of the problem, rather than medicine with potentially undesirable side effects.
Highest on the list of prevention and healing, however, is proper nutrition and a change in attitude.
Looking for Change
Alternative treatments to cancer have not always enjoyed popularity and have suffered from misperceptions. Three organizations dedicated to correcting mistaken ideas regarding alternative cancer and other treatments presented at the conference, including the conference sponsor, the Cancer Control Society. People for Reason in Science and Medicine and the California Naturopathic Doctors Association (CNDA) also made presentations.
As part of its presentation, CNDA brought forth its draft of the Cancer Freedom of Choice Bill. The proposed legislation is designed to protect N.D.s, M.D.s, and D.O.s who want to treat cancer with therapies other than radiation, chemotherapy, or surgery.
Back to Basics Approach—Full Remission of Breast Cancer
Speaking at the Sunday noon conference meeting was former orthopedic surgeon Lorraine Day. Dr. Day is an internationally acclaimed orthopedic trauma surgeon and best-selling author who was for 15 years on the faculty of the University of California, San Francisco. She was also chief of Orthopedic Surgery at San Francisco General Hospital and is recognized worldwide as an AIDS expert, according to her website.
She is probably one of the few M.D.s in recent times to have healed herself by avoiding the use of modern medicine. She looks like she is in her 50s, but revealed she is 75 years young this year.
“Are you afraid of cancer?” she asked the audience. “I’m not!”
As an M.D., she questioned, “Why would you treat cancer with radiation, when it causes cancer? Why would you use poisonous chemotherapy? Why would you remove an organ, which would cause many other side effects?”
She shared her own treatment from the podium. Her battle with breast cancer started with what appeared to be a small pimple, but was a growth that advanced into a huge tumor.
She then stated, “We are the cause of our cancers—the only cause.” She further explained that our lifestyles, what we eat and how we prepare our food, and how we think all make a difference for our health. It’s reversible.
Her 10-step program is simple, yet will challenge people to look deeply into themselves. It will change you from your core, said Dr. Day.
She also mentioned that people who drink coffee, sodas, etc., can’t flush their bodies to prevent problems. “Eat fruits, vegetables, raw if possible. The body wasn’t made to get sick, it is capable of remaining healthy to a very old age, if we will just take care of it,” she said.
“You also need to drink water, lots of it.”
She gave some sagely advise, “Forgive everyone who ever ‘hurt you.’” You only sicken yourself by keeping these judgments and emotions that eat away at your vitality, she said.
According to testimonials on her website, Dr. Day’s 10 steps to better health have put MS, breast, stomach, colon, cervical, basal cell, lung, lymphoma, and bladder cancers into remission. Lyme disease, heart disease, and many other conditions listed have also disappeared.
