Camp David is open during the government shutdown, with most staff staying on the job.

Everyone who helps keep the camp up and running--including chefs, gardeners, and electricians--are still on the job, reported TMZ.

Several government officials told TMZ that more than 250 Camp David staffers are still going to work during the shutdown and getting paid.

The 180-acre camp includes tennis courts, a pool, a skeet range, a bathouse, and a bowling alley, as well as cabins and other amenities.

Camp David is located in Catoctin Mountain Park in Frederick, Maryland, used occasionally by President Barack Obama for rest and relaxation, and for hosting visiting dignitaries. One the last big events held there was the G8 summit in summer 2012.

Most staffers are designated as active duty military personnel--which aren’t getting furloughed during the shutdown--because the camp is operated by the Department of Defense.

Interestingly enough, the part of the White House website describing Camp David has the following message:

“Due to Congress’s failure to pass legislation to fund the government, the information on this web site may not be up to date. Some submissions may not be processed, and we may not be able to respond to your inquiries.”
