The announcement of their breakup came only a few months after the two celebrated their one year anniversary with a tropical getaway. Photos of the romance were documented on each of their Instagram pages.
Reports suggested it was Harris who decided to call it quits with the 26-year-old superstar.
“Taylor’s heart was more in it than he was. He started to lose interest over the past few months, but really tried to not just break up,” a source told E! News.
The “Love Story” singer gushed about the DJ-producer in an April interview with Vogue, referring to their relationship as magical.
“I’m just taking things as they come,” the singer said. “I’m in a magical relationship right now. And of course I want it to be ours, and low-key … this is the one thing that’s been mine about my personal life.”
Other reports indicated that the 32-year old was intimidated by the success of the mega pop star. Swift was named as the highest paid artist in 2015, earning $73.5 million.
“[Harris] said on multiple occasions that he was intimidated by Taylor, which is why he would not attend any events where she was being honored, or any award shows unless he was nominated,” Swift’s friend told People.
After show cancellations as a result of a car crash, Harris will resume his show dates this weekend on June 3 and June 4 in Las Vegas.
