A suspect in a shooting that killed a man and wounded two others at a dental office in El Cajon, a suburb of San Diego, was arrested Feb. 29, according to the El Cajon Police Department.

Police told local San Diego news station FOX 5 that the shooter was believed to be a “disgruntled former customer.”

According to police, the shooting started Thursday around 4:14 p.m. at the Smile Plus Dentistry and Orthodontics dental office located at 480 North Magnolia Avenue.

When police officers arrived at the scene, they found two adult males and one adult female with gunshot wounds, according to authorities. One of the men died from his injuries at the scene and the other victims were transported to a hospital in serious, but stable condition, police said.

Police say the suspect fled the scene after the attack in a white U-Haul pick-up truck, which they publicized on social media, along with the truck’s license plate.

A citizen found the truck a few hours later, at 9:11 p.m., and police located the suspect, Mohammed Abdulkareem, 29, shortly after. He was taken into custody around 10:00 p.m. and charged with one count of murder and two counts of attempted murder, according to authorities.

Mr. Abdulkareem was armed with a handgun at the time of his arrest, police said.

The El Cajon Police Department says that the investigation is ongoing and that it might lead to additional charges against the suspect.
