Three people sustained significant injuries when the vehicle they were in crashed into a Lakeside home on Monday, according to a California Highway Patrol officer.

Officer Jared Grieshaber of the California Highway Patrol said that the driver, a 39-year-old man from El Cajon, was driving a 2011 Buick Enclave southbound on Winter Gardens Boulevard south of Sterling Hill Lane with two other men also from El Cajon, a 37-year-old and a 41-year-old, reported City News Service.

The driver, who was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol, lost control of the vehicle at around 3:05 a.m. on Monday and crashed into the home within the 9000 block of Winter Gardens Boulevard.

“While driving southbound, the driver was unable to maintain control of the Buick and made an unsafe turning movement, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway,” Mr. Grieshaber said.

The driver and passengers of the SUV suffered major injuries, according to the news outlet. Mr. Grieshaber said they were taken by ambulance to Sharp Memorial Hospital.

The officer reported that the driver was arrested, but he did not have any more information about the impact the crash had on the house and whether there was anyone present, according to The San Diego Union Tribune.
