Suspect Arrested in Fatal 2014 Shooting in San Diego

A 50-year-old man was arrested Feb. 9 on suspicion of murder in a 2014 shooting in San Diego.

Sonny Estrada, who was already in custody on an unrelated charge, was identified by detectives as the suspected shooter of Daniel Coriz, a 42-year-old San Diego resident, according to the San Diego Police Department.

The shooting occurred around midnight on May 11, 2014, on the 1100 block of Koe Street, authorities said.

Officers found Mr. Coriz outside a residence. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene from a gunshot wound to his upper torso.

According to police, an investigation revealed that two males had approached the victim. One fired several gunshots, striking him.

Both suspects were described as wearing black hooded sweatshirts, black pants, and black bandanas to cover their faces.
