Two armed men robbed a cell phone store Feb. 21 located on the 1400 block of South 43rd Street at gunpoint, according to the San Diego Police Department.

The robbery occurred around 7:30 p.m., San Diego Police Officer John Buttle said.

One man brandished a gun and pointed it at the clerk while the second man kept his firearm hidden, Officer Buttle said.

One suspect then went into the store’s employee area to open the safe and collected several cell phones. The other remained in the front of the store and demanded the clerk take cash out of the register.

The clerk was not injured, and the total loss of cash and cell phones taken was not disclosed.

One suspect was described as a 35-year-old man wearing a blue jacket and black beanie. The other was described as a 20-year-old man, wearing a gray beanie and hoodie sweatshirt.

The suspects fled the scene and their current whereabouts are unknown, Officer Buttle said.

Robbery detectives from the police department will be handling the investigation.

According to Mr. Buttle, the robbery is likely related to one that occurred in National City Feb. 20.
