A Riverside County rideshare driver was arrested March 5 in the hit and run death of a woman in Costa Mesa days earlier.

Costa Mesa police responded March 3 to a 12:25 a.m. call about a pedestrian struck by a car at the intersection of Newport and Harbor boulevards.

According to a department press release, officers found a woman with a life-threatening head injury. Fire and rescue personnel treated and transported her to a hospital.

The woman died March 5. Police said she was 47 and her last known address was in Costa Mesa, but they withheld her name pending notification of family.

Police investigators determined that the driver was working for a rideshare service when he hit the woman and fled. After two days of talking to witnesses and analyzing video, they located and arrested Thomas Loranze Henry, 43, of Ontario.

Mr. Henry was booked on vehicular manslaughter and felony hit and run and booked into Orange County Jail. His bail was set at $100,000, KTLA reported.
