Man Killed After Trying to Fix His Vehicle on 91 Freeway

A man was killed April 1 after he was struck while standing in the lanes of the Riverside 91 Freeway, in the Yorba Linda area of Orange County.

The incident occurred at 12:10 a.m. on the westbound Riverside Freeway east of Gypsum Canyon Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Authorities said the individual, who has not been identified, was trying to fix his car when he was hit by another car when its driver lost control for an unknown reason, according to local news outlet KTLA.

The driver who struck the individual did not appear to have suffered any injuries but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene, according to KTLA.

All westbound lanes of the freeway, except the HOV lanes, were shut down for about seven hours while the accident was being investigated.
