A suspect was arrested Feb. 14 in the death of another man after an hours-long standoff with officers responding to reports of an assault at a Glendale residence, police said.

Vahan Keshishyan, 28, of La Crescenta, was arrested on suspicion of murder and is being held in custody. Authorities allege he killed Ordean Neva, 63, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The relationship between the two, if any, is under investigation, authorities said.

The incident occurred around 2:15 p.m. on the 3300 block of Reta Street, KTLA reported. Officers initially found neither a victim nor a suspect, but they saw evidence of an assault and ordered a lockdown of three nearby schools, police said.

Ultimately, a suspect was located in another residence on the street, and the department’s crisis negotiation and SWAT teams were called to negotiate with him.

After several hours, police say, Mr. Keshishyan surrendered without incident.

Police at the standoff scene then found the body of Mr. Neva, who was declared dead.

Glendale police urge anyone with more information about the case to contact them at, (818) 548-4911.
