A man was arrested on Feb. 20 after he allegedly tried to lure a 12-year-old boy into his car in Anaheim, authorities said.

The suspect has been identified as 46-year-old German Reyes Ramos, according to the Anaheim Police Department.

Mr. Reyes Ramos has been charged with one felony count of contacting a minor for felonious purposes.

Officers were dispatched on Feb. 13 at approximately 9:30 a.m. to a report of a kidnapping attempt at the 2900 block of West Orange Street, according to the police department.

When officers arrived, they found a man who matched the report’s description and started an investigation.

Police said the man allegedly tried to lure a boy into a tan SUV he was driving, by asking the boy if he needed a ride while holding a bundle of money. The boy then ran away and called 911 to report the incident, authorities said.

Detectives later identified Mr. Reyes Ramos as the suspect and arrested him on Feb. 20. He was driving a tan 2002 Dodge Durango at the time of arrest.

Police believe the suspect has tried to contact other children in Anaheim and are hoping that they will be able to find more possible victims.

Anaheim Police Department detectives urged anyone with more information to call them at 714-765-1623 or call the Orange County Crime Stoppers at 855-TIP-OCCS, or 855-847-6227.
