Hit-and-Run Kills 5-Year-Old, Leaves Grandmother Injured in Gardena

A 5-year-old was killed, while walking in a crosswalk with their grandmother, in a hit-and-run in Gardena Feb. 11, local television station Fox 11 reported.

The grandmother, whose age and name have not been released, was injured.

The accident was reported to the Gardena Police Department around 10:30 a.m. Paramedics pronounced the child dead at the scene, and the grandmother was transported to a hospital.

According to police, a still unknown driver turned north on Budlong Avenue from Marine Avenue, hit the two, and then continued driving, according to police.

The identity of the child is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
