SANTA ANA, Calif.—A 42-year-old felon pleaded guilty Feb. 16 to stabbing a man in a robbery spree in Anaheim and was sentenced to eight years in prison.

Michael Angel Andrew Vera pleaded guilty to two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, four counts of robbery, two counts of attempted robbery and a count of resisting arrest, all felonies. He also admitted sentencing enhancements for inflicting great bodily injury on the victims and the personal use of a deadly weapon.

Mr. Vera appeared to be under the influence when he approached and robbed at least four people on La Palma Avenue at Harbor Boulevard around 7 p.m. June 28, Anaheim police Sgt. Jacob Gallacher said. One of the victims was stabbed, but the wounds were not considered life-threatening, Mr. Gallacher said.

The criminal complaint alleged seven victims.

Mr. Vera has a prior criminal history, which includes assault with a weapon on a peace officer or firefighter in January 2001, throwing a substance or missile with the intent to do serious bodily harm and misdemeanor battery in March 2010 and attempted robbery and misdemeanor assault and battery in April 2015, according to court records.
