PACOIMA, Calif.—A 70-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly fatally striking a pedestrian with his vehicle in Pacoima then fleeing the scene, authorities said Feb. 25.

Arturo Sepulveda Carrera was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and- run and was booked at 5:26 a.m. Sunday at the Van Nuys Jail, where he was being held in lieu of $50,000 bail, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Police say Mr. Carrera was behind the wheel of a silver Nissan Cube that was going eastbound on Van Nuys Boulevard at about 10 p.m. Saturday when it struck a 29-year-old man who was walking in the eastbound lanes of Van Nuys Boulevard near Remick Avenue.

The Nissan continued eastbound, failing to stop, the LAPD said. Paramedics rushed the unidentified victim to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
