Two men were seriously injured after their Tesla fell onto the Ventura 134 Freeway near Griffith Park and burst into flames March 3.

The incident occurred just before 11 p.m. when the electric vehicle fell from the Riverside Drive overpass, struck the concrete center divider on the freeway, and caught fire, according to a Los Angeles Fire Department alert.

The passengers were two men, 65 and 60 years old. They were able to get out of the car and were transported by paramedics to a regional trauma center in serious but stable condition, according to the alert.

Fire department officials said the affiliation between the men was unknown.

Firefighters remained at the scene to extinguish the blazing vehicle. No further incidents were reported, according to the statement.

The California Highway Patrol issued a SigAlert at 11:50 p.m. shutting down the HOV lane and lanes 1, 2, and 3 of the eastbound Ventura Freeway at Riverside Drive.

The lanes were reopened March 4 around 4:25 a.m.
