A 16-year-old Hawthorne boy was beaten and stabbed multiple times by other teens in a harrowing assault at Dockweiler State Beach on Feb. 10, according to media reports.

The teenager had gone to a beach party that had been publicized on social media when a fight broke out involving one of his friends, local news broadcaster FOX L.A. reported.

The boy had tried to help his friend when five to seven other teens then attacked him, the boy’s mother told KTLA.

“My son was helping a friend,” she explained. “He helped get her up off the ground and then a guy just asked him to stop, and then my son just wanted to help his friend. The guy asked him if he wanted to fight, and my son didn’t want to fight him.”

The victim’s mother told KTLA that her son had been stabbed three times.

He was rushed to the hospital, where doctors told his mother that they doubted he would survive. The boy had a concussion and punctured lungs, according to news reports.

“The doctor, like as soon as we walked through the door, they were like, ‘We didn’t know if your son was going to live,’ and I just started crying and I just went over there and held my son’s head and told him mommy’s not going anywhere,” the woman told KTLA.

The attackers also insulted the boy as they were carrying out their attack, the mother told FOX L.A.

“They kept saying ’strip that fool' and other offensive and derogatory remarks. They just said so many hateful things,” she said to FOX L.A.

The Los Angeles Police Department said some suspects have been identified and detectives are interviewing them, according to news reports.
