A group of people were filmed holding up a roller coaster that collapsed at a fair in Georgia.
The incident occurred Thursday at the Bartow County Fair in Cartersville, said Glenn Allen, a spokesperson for Georgia State’s Office of Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner, according to ABC News. There were no injuries.
“Apparently, there was a malfunction with the truck that caused some form of a collapse on the ride,” he told the broadcaster. “Exactly what caused that is now under investigation.”
Seven children were also rescued.
The fair will again be opened at 5 p.m. However, the roller coaster, “The Orient Express,” will be closed pending further investigation.
The video of the bystanders holding up the roller coaster was posted on Facebook by a witness, Whitney Castro, who wrote: “If it wasn’t for some quick adults, this would have ended a lot worse.”
“My child was not on it thankfully. Nobody was hurt, a lot of scared little kids. This ride was being balanced and held up by boards,” she added.
Other rides, as well as “The Orient Express,” will be inspected at the park, a state official told 11 Alive.
The fair is currently being held at the David Turner Fair Grounds in Cartersville.
