NEW YORK—Wall Street slipped Tuesday in a lackluster return to trading following a three-day holiday weekend.
The S&P 500 fell 17.85 points, or 0.4 percent, to 4,765.98. The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 231.86, or 0.6 percent, to 37,361.12, and the Nasdaq composite sank 28.41, or 0.2 percent, to 14,944.35.
