At a time when much attention is focused on tightening border security and deporting those who have entered the United States illegally, one conservative think tank is seeking to highlight the benefits brought by immigrants who have played by America’s rules and entered legally.

Unleash Prosperity (UP) stated in a June 16 study that, based on U.S. Census Bureau data, people who come to America legally are twice as likely as native-born Americans to be of prime working age, are more likely to be employed, and have accounted for nearly half of the growth in America’s workforce over the past decade. Immigrants and their children have also been highly successful in building new companies that generate innovation, employment and wealth in America, the report states.
