Gasoline prices in the United States are staying low amid winter weather and low numbers of drivers on the road; the national average is less than $3 per gallon, the American Automobile Association (AAA) said in a statement on Jan. 22.
“Gasoline demand is lowest during this time of year, keeping the price of crude oil in the high $50—low $60 range. Demand begins to ramp up toward the end of February and early March as the weather starts getting milder, and travelers take Spring Break trips,” the AAA said.
