Ford Motor Company is recalling about 550,000 cars and SUVs in North America to fix a gearshift problem that could cause the vehicles to roll away unexpectedly.

The recall covers the 2013-2016 Ford Fusion sedan and 2013-2014 Ford Escape SUV. The affected vehicles were manufactured in Ford assembly plants in Hermosillo, Mexico; Flat Rock, Michigan; and Louisville, Kentucky; Ford said in a press release.
