The worldwide shipment of traditional PCs, including those of Apple, saw a “precipitous drop” in the first quarter of this year because of poor demand and excess inventory, a new report reveals.

In the first quarter of 2023, the shipment of traditional PCs dropped by 29 percent, to 56.9 million units, compared with the same period last year, according to a report on April 9 by market intelligence provider International Data Corp. (IDC).
