Chrysler parent Stellantis is recalling 419,035 Jeep Grand Cherokees due to a software issue that could lead to a delay in the deployment of the side airbags in a side-impact crash.
According to a recall notice posted on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) X account on May 29, the Jeep Grand Cherokees could have occupant constraint modules with faulty software that inadvertently causes the door airbag pressure sensors to remain active. As a result, the side air bags may not properly deploy if the recall vehicles were struck from the side.
