More than 20 firefighters are battling an out of control bushfire northwest of Sydney, as it burns towards houses on a suburban street.

Just after 2.30pm on Sept 26 Fire and Rescue NSW and the Rural Fire Service responded to reports of an out of control blaze in bushland off Surprise Court in Bligh Park, near Windsor.

Crews reported large amounts of smoke and called in more fire trucks from Sydney’s western suburbs to help contain the blaze and protect nearby homes.

More than 20 firefighters are on scene fighting the fire which is burning across more than three hectares.

Aerial vision shows a water-bombing helicopter fighting the blaze and fire trucks stationed outside homes.
