A bus fell off a bridge in central Montenegro, killing 18 Romanian tourists and injured dozens.

The bus plunged off the Zdrijelo Bridge over the Moraca river during a storm, falling some 130 feet into a ravine on Sunday, reported The Associated Press.

Dozens of other people were rescued by airplanes sent to the site of the accident. Reuters reported that 31 people were injured in the accident.

Officials told the BBC that at least 50 people were on board the vehicle.

The majority of those on the bus were retired people who left Romania on Saturday.

Montenegro Interior Minister Rasko Konjevic said the crash was “an extremely serious accident,” and officials said an investigation will take place.

Montenegro, which has a number of winding and narrow roads, is a frequent spot for road accidents.
