Two thieves added insult to injury for a North Carolina homeowner after burglarizing the house and then leaving a thank you note.

Police were notified last week after neighbors reported spotting two men leaving a home with large bags full of items. The two thieves had broken into the home from the back door. According to a police account of the incident, over $5,000 worth of electronics, clothes, and food were taken from Thomas’s home.

Before leaving, the thieves carved “we love the stuff we got” on the wall of the hallway. Another note was left written on a napkin with a simple “thanks.”

Police apprehended Dajuan Marquis Avant, 19, listed as homeless, and Darrell L. Sturdivant Jr., 19 after they had broken in on Wednesday. Both men are being charged for breaking and entering, larceny, possession of stolen goods, and conspiracy and injury to real property.

A $2,500 bail was set on both men. Sturdivant has already been released.
