The Buffalo Sabres may or may not be sold, according to several conflicting reports.
The Associated Press reports that the owner of the team, Tom Golisano, has not made a decision yet on whether or not he’s going to sell the team.
A person who is familiar with billionaire Terry Pegula’s bid to buy the Sabres told AP that Golisano is giving the sale “serious consideration.”
However, the Montreal Gazette reported that the Sabres will not be sold, contrary to AP and several other reports.
The Sabres minority owner Larry Quinn told the Gazette that the team will not be sold off for about $150 million.
“Our company policy is we do not comment on them because people make inquiries all the time," he stated to the newspaper. “Some of these inquiries are serious, some are not, some make the media and others do not. The report that a $150-million letter of intent has been signed is simply not true."
Quinn said that “reports regarding the sale of the Buffalo Sabres tend to surface from time to time.”
