A fire on Brooklyn’s Coney Island claimed the life of a young child on Tuesday.

According to a report by ABC, the 11-year-old boy, Tavon Turpin died in a fire that occurred in a high-rise apartment building on West 24th Street.

The boy was playing with matches, which sparked the blaze, stated the Fire Department.

The boy reportedly was autistic, said his neighbors, who added that the boy’s grandmother went out on an errand when the fire started.
