Bronze Medal for Hong Kong Youth Hockey

The Hong Kong squad of U15 boys playing in the 5th Youth Hockey International Championships 2013 in Yangzhong, China won bronze when they defeated Beijing He Yi 6-1 in the bronze medal playoff game.

Touring to China with their coach, team manager and physiotherapist, the 12-person squad performed admirably in the Aug 22-26 competition.

They won four of their five pool matches, and drew the other one 2-2, to take them through to the Semi-final where they lost 2-0 to the eventual winners of the tournament Jing Yuan Ti Xiao.

Team Manager Gurcharan Singh summed up the performace for the Epoch Times.

“It was a tremendous performance by the boys, unbeaten in 5 games,” said Singh. “Unluckily they lost in the Semi-final.

“All credit to Coach Arif Ali for training the boys during the summer”

The top scorer of the Hong Kong side was Chuen Kwun who scored 12 goals in the tournament.

Jing Yuan Ti Xiao beat Mo Qi Ti Xiao in the Final.
